Presbytery www.peaceriverpresbytery.org or e-mail inbox@peaceriverpresbytery.org Dear Colleagues and Friends, On Sunday, September 28, I attended the installation service for Rev. Dan Hagmaier at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Fort Myers. The Presbytery was well represented with twenty-one people from eleven committees of the Presbytery. There were also members of fifteen churches from Bradenton to Naples present. They were First, Arcadia, First, Bonita Springs, First, Bradenton, Church of the Palms, Covenant, Cypress Lake, Faith, First, Fort Myers, Hope United, Moorings, Northminster, First, Sarasota, Siesta Key, Vanderbilt, and Westminster. The music was outstanding. It included the singing of great hymns of the church with gusto, a twenty member choir, twelve member bell choir, a flutist, soloist, pianist, and oboe player. The music tied into the sermon and charges to pastor and congregation in a marvelous way. In his excellent sermon Doug Pratt commended the congregation for their renewed spirit. He noted the great change from last fall when representatives of the Presbytery met in several sessions with the congregation to encourage them not to leave the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Tension filled the air at those meetings. However, in this service he sensed great joy and love for Christ and His church. Dan was charged to remain hungry and humble: hungry to spread the love of Christ to all people with great passion and enthusiasm, and humble in his ministry to the congregation and the community. The congregation, which was well represented, was charged to love and support their pastor and his wife, Jaye J. The congregation was warm and friendly. They were very appreciative of all the help they had received from the Presbytery and their sister churches during their ordeal this past year. I would like to close this Pastoral letter with the new pastor’s viewpoint regarding Covenant’s ministry in the future. In Christ’s service, Bob Rea
